I don’t know who Mrs. Pawlowski is, but Laurie made her meatball recipe for Christmas and it was a smashing success. Not only are the meatballs quite tasty, but they are baked instead of fried, making them easier to prepare and, theoretically, much better for you.

2 lb. ground beef

1 lb. ground pork

1 lb. ground veal

1 package Mrs. Grass or Lipton Onion Soup mix

4 eggs

salt and pepper to season

1 good sized raw onion  - chopped fine

1 c. cracker meal  (You can purchase a box of cracker meal, or make you own by running saltine crackers through the food processor.)

Mix all ingredients together.  Shape into balls.  Bake at 300 degrees for 35 minutes.

1 can or bottle beef gravy

1 can cream of mushroom or onion soup

1 can water
